A Thrifty Birdcage!

I'm sharing my new birdcage arrangement for Rhoda's Today's Thrifty Treasures and Diane's 2nd Time Around events. This is the first time I've participated in their fun weekly events.

While wandering in Joann's Fabrics not long ago, I stumbled across the most adorable black birdcage. It was 60% off and the last one in the store. I was tickled pink and almost did a happy dance, as I whisked it into my cart.

Isn't this just too cute?!?

I had a couple of bunches of red and white geraniums in my flower stash and a small clay pot on the patio. A quick prime and paint job transformed it to a shiny black pot. A little heart shaped birdhouse that I painted many years ago adds color and detail to the bottom of the cage.

The top of the hutch over the desk has a birdhouse theme, and the birdcages seemed to fit right in. I'm trying to think of a something whimsical for the green birdcage. It may become black very shortly. ☺

Enjoy!

How cute! I have several old cages in my house but I have to fill them with my living plants since Miss Camille Suzanne finds it impossible to overlook a little blossom!☺

Love that bird cage!!! I have several and am trying to decide if I should unite them by color. So you think you'll paint the green one? Linda

Great birdcage and isn't it amazing what a little elbow grease and spray paint will do to resurrect something for a 2nd go round!

Thanks for your sweet visit Diane!
I'll tell my hubby he did good.

The lightning strike and resulting fire was really scary! We could not believe it that the house was on fire from it. Flames were leaping out of the side and black smoke was pouring out of the chimney.

I kind of thought we were all safe in our own homes from lightning?
I guess not. Hmmmm....
Alex said he thinks it smoldered in the chimney and the heat was just too much.

Have a wonderful weekend my friend,
~Melissa :)

Oh girli, I just couldn't help myself. The weather is so fall like here. Just beautiful. I had a couple of rainy days, Bill slept most of them so had to "start" on the fall decorating. Guess I got carried away and it's all done.. lol I keep getting comments it's too early. Guess not for me huh?? lol I hope you're having a terrific Sunday...hugs ~lynne~

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. I really appreciate it. I definitely had a scare a few weeks agoand now things are much better. ~Whew!
