Outdoor Wednesday

Welcome to Outdoor Wednesday, hosted by Susan at A Southern DayDreamer.

The Amaryllis are blooming and they've outdone themselves this year! Years ago, I bought amaryllis bulb kits to use as Christmas decorations. After the flowers died back, the bulbs went outside and were eventually planted in a couple of pots. I had snail problems though and didn't have much success with the plants blooming until I discovered that fertilizing them helps immensely!

The red amaryllis amazes me. After the snails finished this bulb I almost threw it out, but had read that the bulbs could be divided, so I tried planting it in a little pot and a few years later, look at it now! It's a full size bulb again and with the help of some fertilizer, it's gorgeous.

The bulbs in this pot seem to multiply every year and it's very tight in there, but they bloom like crazy. The fertilizer has worked wonders for them too.
Another view and you can see one of the birdhouses my hubby or son need to mount on the post... It's been waiting for a few years to be put on the post, but I'm very patient. ;0} Poor birds could have had a home...

You know how I love rusty yard art... Doesn't this one look like Roxy?

This one looks like Murphy, our cocker spaniel.

Susan, thank you for hosting this delightful weekly event. You can visit A Southern Daydreamer to see the other Outdoor Wednesday posts, by clicking HERE.

Enjoy!
Diane

Hi Diane,
Enjoyed all of your photos, the Amaryllis's are very beautiful , and the pink is very unusual in color. The birdhouse is beautiful also. The rustic yardwork is very realistic too, thank you for sharing.

Diane.. all of your Amaryllis are beautiful. Mine haven't bloomed yet.. I split them up last year because they were way over crowded and over growing their pot. I hope I haven't harmed them. It's so funny how your Roxy and Chief resemble my Rocky and Gizzy.
Thanks for sharing your gorgis treasures with us all today.
Happy Wednesday.
Hugs,
Debbie

How pretty!! I love amaryllis also. I was given one a few years ago and planted it in the yard. It blooms every spring. Just one lonely big red bloom.

Love those, I grow them for Christmas presents every year. I have never had any luck getting them to stay alive from year to year. Any advice?

Your amaryllis certainly show what a lot of TLC and fertilizer can do!! They are gorgeous!!

We need to get those boys on the stick and get that beautiful birdhouse mounted--wow, the birds will go nuts over that one!

Love that rusty yard art--there are huge pieces of it on the highways around KC with figures representing the Santa-Fe-Trail.

Happy Outdoor Wednesday!!! Dana

I'm with you Diane. I love this outdoor event. Your flowers are so beautiful. I had no idea snails could be a problem. Lol Those little brats!!! Fertilizer is the answer for all plants. My sister's think I have a green thumb and I do in the name of plant food. A must for success in gardening. BIG Secret NO MORE!!!

Your yard is just beautiful. And the amaryllis is amazing. I really love the birdhouse. Be careful when you move it, I had one sitting on our deck (yes, waiting for hubby to mount it on a post lol), when he finally went to do so, a tiny little house wren flew out - I thought he was going to have a heart attack! they look wonderful girl!!! I love the birdhouse too!!!
My greenhouse is a disappointment this year. Not only did I plant each seed...more seeds than ever before too...but they did not germinate like they should have. Some years are like this...I have to go out and purchase pansys and a couple of other things...when the seed does not perform....greenhouses are not as full as they should be! I plan to do a blog post about it one of these days...I know I sound whiny...but why should I have to buy plants when I know I can grow my own!

Diane, your blossoms are GORGEOUS! You'd better make some of those smoothie pops of mine so you can have one when you are in your garden! The colors would fit perfectly!
