Tablescape Thursday

Welcome to Tablescape Thursday, hosted by Susan at Between Naps on the Porch.

Have you ever had a grand idea for a blog post, took the pictures in eager anticipation of how the post will look, and then realize the pictures just don't look right and don't use them or your grand idea? Well, that's what happened to me in March. I thought this tablescape looked pretty spiffy while I arranged it. That is until I looked at the blah pictures. Hmmm, something was missing. There wasn't any oomph... I think it needed flowers or greenery. It needed something!

(Click on the pictures to enlarge.)

I really liked the tablecloth, placemats and plates. The napkins have a pretty scalloped edge and I've always loved my flatware.

The plates used to hang on the wall in the dining room, but shhhh, don't tell anyone...

Here's another shot of the boring centerpiece. What do you think would have put it over the top?

I've shown the birdhouses before, but they're just too cute for words.

And here's the last one.

I'm always looking for ideas and suggestions, would you like to share your ideas?

Click HERE to visit Susan for the list of the other Tablescape Thursday participants.

Enjoy!
Diane

Yes, I have done that before. Isn't it amazing how different something looks when you take a picture and think about posting it on your blog? I think this is a lovely tablescape. Those plates from your wall are absolutely stunning, and the tablecloth picks up the colors in the plates. And the white plates with the cutouts are so pretty. Bird houses are always great, and yours are so pretty. I don't think this table needs anything (except maybe me sitting in a chair waiting for you to bring me some food). laurie

The bird houses are so cute and I love the flatware, it is lovely! You asked what you could have done to the centerpiece to add that little extra... what about some branches and maybe some moss, a tiny nest or two with some eggs... kind of arranged all around and between the bird houses? The table really is darling!

I think it looks great as it is, but maybe a little bit of greenery, not necessarily flowers. The birdhouses are already so colorful. Maybe like moss topiaries or ferns, or even just some branches. I was thinking little birds scattered about would be cute too if you have any. I LOVE you plates by the way!

Since Sophie is the only tablescaper in our house, I asked her and she said a dish full of bones would be the perfect touch. As for myself, I think it is just perfect as is.

Love those plates -- I'm a big bird on the table lover too - It certainly looks wonderful, but since you've asked for comments -- how about a pretty shabby chic tray to contain the pretty pieces that make up your centerpiece. It's fun to keep re-designing for new looks!

Love all your birdhouses! The plates and flatware are great also. It all looks great to me - sometimes adding more takes away from the overall look you are trying to achieve. Looking good!!
